Sowers Sow

“Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭6:7-10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

It’s the Law of the Harvest. What we sow we will reap. The Bible talks about “sowing” in multiple different contexts.

We often think of sowing and reaping along the lines of sharing the Gospel. In the parable of the sower of the seed, it seems he just sowed. He didn’t judge the ground or sow sparingly. He just sowed the seed. This parable goes on to speak about different ground, which can lead us to focus more on the ground than the sower.

Today, I want to focus on the sower. The truth is we can never really judge the true condition of someone’s heart. People may look like they have no desire for a relationship with God, they may look like they are enjoying their life of sin, but sowers sow.

Sow kindness. Sow mercy. Sow to the Spirit. Invest into the kingdom. His Word will not return void. Don’t be distracted by the negativity that often surrounds us. Let the fruit of your relationship with God bubble over and anticipate the harvest that is promised if we continue to sow.
