“For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it.”
1 Peter 3:10-11 ESV
This time of year is so full of emotions. Some people are dealing with loss, a situation I am all too familiar with at the moment. Some people are dealing with the stress of finding the perfect present, or the stress of financial burdens that come with the season. Some are just genuinely happy about the season and enjoying all the merriment that it entails.
With all these emotions filling the air it is important to heed the words of Peter. If we desire to love life and see good days, we must keep our tongues from evil. We must do good and seek peace and pursue it.
It is so easy to get busy in the hustle and bustle and forget the meaning on the season. As cliche as it sounds we do often forget, the real reason for the season is people. He came for people. The person in front of you in line. The person who cut you off in traffic, the person who was snippy at the grocery store. These people are all dealing with the weight of the season and the hurt and pain that He came to heal.
Simply put, seek peace today. Pursue peace with intent. Slow down and be thankful for the blessings you have and give forgiveness to those around you who may have less, or just need more Jesus. It is here where we find the keys to loving the life we are living and finding joy in the middle of our journey.
