Take the step

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.1 John‬ ‭4:18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I have been having issues with my knee. Today was by far the worst day I have had in the past month. I had difficult time walking. Crazy how something I have been doing for 30 something 😉 years could be so difficult when pain was involved. In order to walk I used a cane, which my mother in law kindly let me borrow. As the day went on I was able to walk more independently but I began to subconsciously favor my hurt leg. Walking took extra thought and will power. Going up and down stairs took me taking a few seconds to mentally prepare myself. Crazy, how one day made such a difference.

I began to think about how similar that is to stepping out in faith with God. We all come from different past life experiences. Some are good. Some are bad. Some are horrible and some are just life. We all have hurts, pains, joys and triumphs that we carry along with us. As I tried to walk I was very conscious of the pain that I was in and had felt earlier that day, it was often difficult and sometimes impossible to take a step. My body didn’t want to move. It didn’t want to take a step to an unknown location. I had to mentally prepare and force my feet to move.

Fear can keep us trapped. It can hold us back from the miracles that God desires us to experience. The thing about fear is that it is often accompanied by pain. The pain warns us to flee from the fearful activity. We remember a voice, a look, a situations and the pain we felt begins to stir up the fear we may have forgot. The pain and fear keeps us frozen in the past rather than flourishing in the future.

The scripture says perfect love casteth out all fear! All fear!! Where love abides fear has to hide. Knowing that He loves us, truly loves us, let’s us know anything he calls us to will work together for good. When we doubt His love, fear creeps in. What if I fall? What if I fail?

What if you don’t?!? Take that step today. Lay the pain aside, the healer will take care of that later, and take the step you have been called to take.
