“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:”
Ecclesiastes 3:1 ESV
We are in the middle of winter in my area of the country. As we drove toward a popular summer tourist destination town I saw signs above empty lots are usually packed. Large “closed for the season” signs were plastered in front of the usually informative signs.
As we drove by these popular tourists destinations covered in icicles it is clear as to why they are closed. Wading thru the snow to pet a horse isn’t as fun when it’s -30 below and breezy. Free ice water doesn’t have the same appeal when the roads are icy and you see semi trucks in the ditch.
As we drove by these signs I began to wonder what if God put “closed for the season” on our prayers. There is a time and a purpose for everything, but I am guilty of knocking on doors that God has deemed “closed for the season.” Unfortunately, we do not get to see the large billboards or the blowing snow. We must walk a walk a faith and have the opportunity to have a relationship with the God that creates the seasons.
No matter what door you are trying to open today, talk to him first. Seek his face and his will for your life. Without his guidance we can easily waste our efforts banging on doors that are closed for the season.
