Waiting for Friday!

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:”‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3:1‬ ‭ESV‬‬

It’s “finally” Friday!!! Cue the “Thank God it’s Friday” memes and my weekly “it’s Friday” Snapchat! I am definitely one of those people who are super excited about Friday because it is the start to the weekend. As I stay at home for my job I love the freedom and festivities the weekend brings.

Today, as I read a few Friday memes already in my social media feeds I thought about how typical of human nature it is to look forward to Friday. It’s much like the “grass is greener” mentality. I am guilty of counting down days to Friday and celebrating Thursday nights because it is the eve of Friday. While there is merit to be found in celebrating the small things, there is a greater opppurtunity to miss the moment when we are always waiting for Friday.

Whether it’s actual Friday or another mythical perfect date, time or season, we can spend so much time waiting for the perfect moment that we miss all the miraculous moments in between. The scripture says to everything there is a season, as it goes through all the times, a time to mourn, a time to laugh etc.. I can’t help to stop and think that these times are meant for a purpose. The week is not just meant to rush or whine through in order to get to Friday, but those days and moment in between are miraculous gifts for each of us.

Those of you who received my “it’s Friday!!!  Whoo whoo!!” Snapchat today are probably thinking this girl is preaching to herself and you are correct. Today, I want to enjoy the day not because it’s Friday, but because it is a gift and God has a divine purpose for this particular day!

“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭118:24‬ ‭ESV‬‬
