“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:25-26, 33-34 ESV
One of my many less admirable qualities is that I tend to worry. Worry that has been churning around in my thoughts can often turn into complaints. I had a conversation with someone a few evenings ago and their situation made me start to worry. I started to feel a little anxious, then sad and then ultimately grateful for the opportunities I was given at the same time in life.
We read in the scriptures a warning not to be anxious. This plea is followed by the simple reminder that even the birds in the sky and the flowers in the fields are all under God’s care.
The remedy which I have written of many times, mostly I am sure because God is trying to get it through to my head is, seek ye first the kingdom of God. When we seek His kingdom and his righteousness it says ALL these things will be added. I love how plainly the NLT version translates these verses;
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” Matthew 6:33-34 NLT
Today, whatever you may face remember that even the birds are under his care. As the season of life constantly change He is constant. Seek Him, live righteously and don’t worry!!! He’s got this!!!
