“Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the Lord. He is like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see any good come. He shall dwell in the parched places of the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land. “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”” Jeremiah 17:5-8 ESV
What beautiful promise to start our week! He is our hidden strength. He sustains us. He nourishes us. He is our provider. Whether storms blow or we feel the warmth of beautiful sunny days if our trust is in him we will not waiver. Trusting in God doesn’t mean that there will be no heat or storm it means that no matter what come along he will sustain us. We in our own abilities can only go so far; and although we can attempt to hold our little world together we always fall short. He is our true refuge. Our trust in him (our roots in him) make the diffence between a tumble weed and an oak.
Lord, no matter what I am going through today whether it be a raging storm or a peaceful sea let me learn to trust you completely.
