“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.””
Isaiah 52:7 ESV
Some of this mornings headlines state; “Defiant North Korea issues new threats” … “Baltimores “nobody kill anybody” weekend leaves two people dead” … “Ohio state fair disaster”… “Manhunt underway for Ohio prisoner”…
Those were just a few on the headlines that were listed as I scrolled through the “front page.” The list went on and on about Russia, politics, immigration and war. Sadly, I was not surprised that I did not see any positive news in bold print. What a world we live in, a world that is full of violence, hatred, envy. Worst of all it is full of people who have no hope.
Our mission is not to just share THE good news, but to be bearers of good news. Speaking positive things into a negative world. We as people who have hope have the opportunity not only to share the life changing news of the gospel, but also to share hope for today. Without opening a Bible, the smile on our faces and pleasant conversation can be such a contrast to the darkness that surrounds us today.
I understand that just because we are Christians does not mean our lives are perfect. The rain falls on the just and unjust. There may be some very serious issues you are dealing with today, but if you have a relationship with God, you have HOPE. You have a promise for tomorrow that many of those around you do not share.
Be someone’s hope today. Be a bright light in a dark world. Be a smile to a lonely person today. You may never know the impact a kind word or guesture may have. And that kind word may even open up an opportunity to share His word.
