Perfect Peace

“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because they trust in you.” Isaiah‬ ‭26:3‬ ‭ESV‬‬

The phrase “perfect peace” brings visions of shiny glasslike water on calm summer nights or the sweet sounds of rhythmic breathing as a baby sleeps. Although, even in examples this peace appears elusive, because the wind often blows and babies sleep is often interrupted.

Perfect peace is a state of being that is not often found in our world. A constant flow of negative news articles, deceptive social media posts and daily obstacles that life brings can bombard us. I believe, never before has there been a time where such negativity and evil is so easily available. All realms of negativity can be found at the touch of our finger tips and only a click away, but yet He still promises perfect peace. Where do I sign??!?! How do I find this “perfect peace?” It can’t be sold in a bottle or found solely on a yoga mat. It is only found in Him. His word says when our mind is stayed on Him we will have perfect peace. It goes further to say when we think on things like Him we will have peace.

“do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians‬ ‭4:6-9‬ ‭ESV‬‬

If your mind is full of worries or uncertainties, think on Him. (I have not mastered this concept, so this is definitely a message to myself today.) Think on all the good He has done and thank Him for the things He is doing. To put it simply, think on whatever is Jesus.

When our mind is rested on Jesus, can we relinquish our will and worry and place them in the hands of the Peace speaker. He is the answer to all our worries. He alone can bring that perfect peace that our souls long for.
