Purpose of the seasons

The temperature is a muggy 104 degrees and I find myself wishing for cooler weather. Where I live there are not long periods of mild weather like Spring and Fall, but the hot Summer and frigid Winter seem to drag on.  In the summer I find myself longing for cooler weather and in the winter aching for some sunlight.

To every [thing there is] a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

Ecclesiastes 3:1 KJV

The Bible tells us every season has a purpose. It doesn’t always tell us what the purpose is. It does share that there is a time to be born, and a time to die.  A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance. (Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3:2-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

My nature wants to know the reason for every season.  I want to figure out why I am going through a particular season. I want to understand and know what the outcome will be, but that isn’t promised. The Bible just tells us that there are seasons and that every seasons has a purpose.

The life season I am currently in is such a roller coaster.  I have two active boys, ages four and almost three, and an in home daycare. Sometimes I find myself in the midst of all of the chaos of my season looking forward to another; when the boys are older… when they can get themselves dressed… when they can watch themselves while my husband and I go on a date…when my husband and I retire and travel around the world.  But then I feel a check in my spirit. I need to stop myself and savor this season. Take the moments that God has given me, crazy or peaceful, and find the purpose. What is He trying to teach me in this season?…definitely working on patience 🙂

Today, whatever season you are living in, enjoy the blessings that God has given. Enjoy the air conditioning, the sweet snuggles of toddlers or the peace of a clean home. And remember that this season has a begining and ending that is only controlled by God. Take the time to relish in beauty of this season, learn from the hard times and grow from both. There is a purpose for the season you are in right now, don’t rush it. In his perfect time the leaves will begin to fall and the season will change, and we will take all the knowledge from one season into the next, and Gods promise of purpose will be fulfilled.
