I have two young children so we practice our “please and thank you’s” quite often. When the boys know they are getting something exciting “thank you!” is really easy say. For most of us whether we are two or eighty-two saying “thank you” comes easy when what we received was pleasant. What about when it’s not? What about when it hurts or when we don’t understand.
“giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,” Ephesians 5:20 NKJV
The scripture didn’t make exceptions. It actually qualified it twice just in case we missed one. Give thanks ALWAYS for ALL things.
I love how simply and eloquently this writer explained why we should praise or give thanks in ALL things.
“Your praises will deepen your trust, lengthen your faith, restore peace of mind, garnish your heart with joy and best of all, please God.”
Nona Freeman ‘This is the Day’
Lord, let me praise you when it is easy and when it is difficult. Let me always remember that my attitude of praise pleases you and although I cannot change every situation, praise will change my attitude and my outlook.

We praise Him when things happen in our timing. Remembering to still praise Him when things happen in His timing is a little more difficult for me. His timing is always perfect!
