Cling to Him

“Only be very careful to observe the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, to love the Lord your God, and to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments and to cling to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.””‭‭Joshua‬ ‭22:5‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“To cleave; to cling means to pursue closely”

We find so many “all’s” in this verse. “…all his ways, all your heart, all your soul!” If we want to fulfill all those alls clinging to Him is about the only way to accomplish it. When we truly give ALL of ourselves we must cling to Him for every need, every desire, every hope. When we do not give Him our all we use temporal things to sustain us, but they will always leave us wanting more. Only he can supply our every need. When we pursue Him closely it has the penny effect. No matter how small a penny is if you put it close to your eye it blocks out everything else. When you pull it away you begin to see how small the penny is. When we pursue him closely the things of this world grow dim. When we focus on Him nothing else matters. Although day to day life can throw us many challenges He is in control and if we are clinging to Him, giving him our all; nothing is impossible!!
